She was born in Tongwynlais, Cardiff, she was first married to Wyndham Lewis. In recognition of her second husband's services, Benjamin Disraeli, Her Majesty Queen Victoria made her a peeress in her own right, 1st Viscountess Beaconsfield of Beaconsfield in the County of Buckingham.
