Douglas, dearly loved father and husband, entered into heaven on January 8, 2013, at the age of 84.

A graduate of Michigan State University and the Detroit College of Law, Doug served as Executive Director of Legal Aid of Central Michigan for 6 years and Director of Research and Development for the State Bar of Michigan for 26 years.

Doug had two passions in his life: his family and his Lord. As a devout Christian and long time, active member of Emmanuel First Lutheran Church in Lansing, Michigan, Doug taught Sunday school and served on the Board for the Lutheran Association for Church Extension. He frequently volunteered at the church and was always providing help, whether it was a ride to the grocery store or providing pro bono legal services, to anyone in need.

Doug and his wife of 57 years, Beverly, are the parents of five children and thirteen grand children. Doug and Bev's children are: Matthew (deceased, survived by his wife, Sue, children: Zachary, Natalie and Brittany); David (wife Emmalee, children: Joseph, Lydia, Madalyn and Noah); Jonathan (son, Max); Elizabeth (husband Rex, children: Paige and Maggie); Jason (wife Lisa, children: Haley, Morgan and Zoe).

Doug was a loving husband and a dedicated father who led by example.

On Friday, January 18th at Emmanuel First Lutheran Church in Lansing, there was a funeral service and a procession to Evergreen Cemetery.
