Susan Catherine Koerner was born in Hillsboro, Loudoun Co, VA on April 30, 1831 to John G. and Catherine Fryer Koerner. She attended Hartville College in Indiana where she excelled in literature and science and was the top mathematician in her class. The daughter of a carriage maker, she was skilled with tools and built household appliances and toys for her family. She married Milton Wright in Union Co, IN on Nov 24, 1859. To this Union was given 7 children, 5 that lived to adults. She died July 4, 1889 in Dayton, Montgomery Co, OH. She was buried in Woodland Cemetery on July 6, 1889, at 58 years of age. She died of tuberculosis.
