Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army at Augusta, New York. He served as a Quartermaster Sergeant. He was awarded the CMOH as a Private in Company B, 24th New York Cavalry for action on April 6, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of battle flag."
