Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army at Wilkins, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He served as a Sergeant and he was awarded the CMOH as a Corporal in Company A, 63d Pennsylvania Infantry for action on May 12, 1864 at Spotsylvania, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 28th North Carolina Infantry (C.S.A.)."
