Hannah Swain was born the 4th of 1st mo 1790, daughter of Elihu and Sarah (Mills) Swain. She married,as his second wife, the 26th of 9th mo 1813 at Lost Creek Friends Meeting, Jefferson Co., TN, Charles Osborn (1775-1850), who would go on to become a noted minister in the Society of Friends. Hannah, too, was active as a Friend, serving as assistant clerk at the Lost Creek Meeting. About 1816 Charles and Hannah moved to Ohio. They were members at Springfield and Miami Friends Meeting in Ohio and Springfield Friends Meeting in Indiana over the next two decades before relocating to Porter County, IN. Hannah survived her husband by over a quarter of a century. She spent her last years in the home of her daughter Sarah Osborn Bonine. Her death occurred the 12th of 2d mo 1878. She was the mother of nine children: Narcissa, Cynthia, Gideon S., Charles Newman, Parker B., Jordan P., Benjamin, Sarah S. and Anna B.
