Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was killed in action at Chapin's Bluff, Virginia. He entered the Union Army at Brooklyn, New York. He served as a Sergeant in Company F, 158th New York Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on September 29, 1864 at Chapin's Farm, Virginia. His citation reads "Was among the first to scale the parapet."
