His parents were Halsey (1875 Iowa) and Edna Jane McDuffee (1877 Iowa) who married there in 1896. In 1920 they both lived in Spooner with their children: Lola, Herbert, Lee, Helen, Daniel, Daizy, Avis, and Jenny.

Herbert married Inez McGraw about 1930. In 1940 they had two children: Derald and Marlene.

OBIT:
Herbert Oscar Bruner was born in the town of Scott, Burnett County on October 22, 1901.

His family moved to Spooner in 1915 and he had resided here since.

On July 6, 1928 he was united in marriage to Inez Marguerite McGraw and to this union four children were born.

He passed away on Monday, May 12 at the Spooner hospital at the age of 67 years.

His parents, one son and one brother preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Darrel, of Ladysmith; two daughters, Mrs. Marlene Westerback of Superior, and Mrs. Edna Bush of Honolulu, Hawaii; also 9 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Flora Snell, Mrs. Lola Kasper, Mrs. Ray King (Helen), Mrs. Paul Lerbach (Irene), all of Spooner, Mrs. Belle Lindberg, of Kamloops, B.C., Canada, Mrs. Jennie Lindberg of Notchhill, B.C., Canada; 2 brothers, Lee of Ryderwood, Wash., and Robert, of Enilda, Alberta, Canada, and many other relatives.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Spooner, Rev. Milton Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Shell Lake Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Gene Thompson, Glen Coquillette, Lester Albee, Clifford Marucheck, Peter Thompson and Everett Palmer. (Spooner Advocate, Spooner, WI, May 15, 1969)
