He had a thirty-five year career with his band Mink DeVille and then later had success on his own and collaborating with other performers such as Mark Knopfler, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint. His song "Storybook Love" was featured in the 1987 film, "The Princess Bride" and was nominated for an Oscar in the singer/songwriter category. DeVille passed away of pancreatic cancer in a New York City hospital.
