After training at Camp Alger, VA, Troop C shipped out for Puerto Rico, July 28, 1898, aboard the transport Massachusetts. Troop C came ashore, August 4, 1898, at Playa, port of Ponce. He participated and saw combat in the Puerto Rico campaign at Coamo and Asomante. He return to the States, September 3, 1898, aboard the transport Mississippi, docking at Jersey City, NJ, September 10, 1898. The City of Brooklyn held a parade for its returning Troops on October 1, 1898. He was discharged from volunteer service November 25, 1898.
He saw additional field service with Troop C Cavalry during the Croton Dam Strike, August 1900. Date of discharge from Troop C unknown at this time.
