POQUOSON - Charles Wesley 'Charlie' Hopkins, 82, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Hopkins was a 1942 graduate of Poquoson High School, and served in the United States Navy for two years. He attended the NASA Apprentice School, and retired in 1985 after 33 years of service as a model maker for NASA. He was a devoted member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he was involved in many activities including the Men's Chorus.

Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents, William and Maude Hopkins; a brother, W. Eldridge Hopkins; and a sister, Louise H. Dorsey.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty M. Hopkins; three daughters, Linda H. Park and husband, Jerry, Nan H. Sothcott, and Bonnie H. Bryan and husband, Mark; four grandchildren, Christopher A. Park, Valerie L. Sothcott, Jordan M. Bryan and Lindsay B. Bryan; a great-grandchild, Hannah G. Park; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
