Charles Patrick McMurray, 86, of Canton, NY, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in Canton, NY.
Known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren, he was born on November 28, 1926 at Lutheran Hospital in the Bronx, NY to Michael and Brenda McMurray.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1945 and later graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY with a degree in business.
He was married to Constance Caffrey of Nutley, New Jersey in 1952 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York.
A lifelong New York Giants fan, he will be remembered for his wit, generosity and faith.
Charles entered the garment industry in New York City and enjoyed a long and successful career, which took him from one end of the globe to other, doing business in dozens of countries.
The family requested that in lieu of floral offerings please consider donations to the Franciscan Friars Garrison, NY.
