Harry Clawson

Harry Allen Clawson, 75, Montana homesteader and railroad worker, died Friday at the Miles City Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was born Sept. 14, 1895, at Phillipsburg, MT., the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Clawson.

He worked as a teenager driving horse-drawn freight wagons from Billings to towns in Wyoming's Big Horn Basin.

He later homesteaded in Montana's Big Horn County.

He married Clara Sharky at Billings, in November, 1919.
They lived in Hardin until 1944 when they moved to Custer.

He was a member and past commander of the American Legion at Custer, a member of the Lutheran Church, and a veteran of World War I.

he is survived by four sons, Mitchell, Kenneth of Portland, OR., Carroll of Seattle, WA., and Roger;
three daughter, Mrs. Kelly Davis of Santa Monica, CA., Mrs. Albert Daem of Custer, Mrs. Lewis Bochy; and 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Custer Congregational Church, Custer.

Burial will be with military honors in Custer Cemetery, Custer, MT.

Smith's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
