Born Feb. 17, 1922, in Catawba Co., she was the daughter of the late Jess Leatherman and Laura Kate Jarrett Leatherman.
She was a member of Plateau United Methodist Church, Vale, where she kept the church nursery for over 25 years, was a former member of the Ladies Missionary Society, and worked as a trimmer in the furniture industry.
Estelle loved to garden and spend time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph S. Lowman Sr.; sister, Betty Lail; and brothers, Harold Leatherman, Dwight Leatherman, and Clee Leatherman.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy "Pat" L. Bluff and husband, Bobby Joe, of Vale, and Linda L. Price, of Hickory; son, Ralph "Junior" S. Lowman Jr., of Vale; grandchildren, Debbie Arruza, Beverly Price, Donna Price, Cynthia Thomas; great-grand-children, Nikki Thomas, Lela Arruza, and Sophie Arruza; and great-great-grandchildren, Ava Thomas, and Maura Jo Brown; and also many loving nieces and nephews.
A special thank you goes out to caregivers Karen Fowler, Jo Smith, Lori Yancey, Sonya Scronce, and nurse, Nancy Smith.
A service of remembrance will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m. at Plateau United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Petree officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
