Mildred L. Schembechler, wife of former head football coach Glenn E. (Bo) Schembechler, died Aug. 19 at University Hospital after an eight-month battle with a rare form of cancer. She was 63. Her husband and four sons were with her when she died.

Mildred was born on December 21, 1928 to David and Ollie Williams in Mississippi.

Surviving are her husband Glenn (Bo) E., four sons, grandson, three brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Commenting on Mrs. Schembechler's death, University of Michigan President said: "Millie Schembechler has been and will continue to be in memory, an important part of The University of Michigan. In many ways—her great courage, her warmth, her concern for others, her strong sense of community involvement, and her quiet strength—she embodied the best of the Michigan spirit.

"We will miss her deeply and the entire University community, send our sympathy to Bo and the Schembechler family. Our thoughts are with them," he said.
