Canadian suffragist, women's rights leader, author, Alberta legislator (MLA for Edmonton, 1921-26). One of the 'Famous Five' women's leaders who pursued the Person's Case to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1928 (where they lost unanimously) and to the British Privy Council in 1929 (where they won) in their bid to have women recognized as full persons under the law in Canada.
