GATE CITY, Va. - Everette Lee Templeton, 83, entered into rest Friday ( Sept. 3, 2004 ).

Born in Scott County , Va. , on Jan. 18, 1921 , he was a son of the late I. A. "Abe" Templeton and Bonnie Alley Templeton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daryl Scott Templeton; and four sisters, Alma Vest, Grace Ball, Faye Jenkins and Mattie (infant); four brothers, Walter, Bill, Bruce and Charles (infant) Templeton; stepmother, Blanche Templeton.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Gate City Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home at 8 p.m. today with the Rev. Riley Boy and Joe Barber officiating.

Music will be provided by Witness.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday at Holston View Cemetery , Weber City , Va. , at 11 a.m. The family will be meeting at 10:15 at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family requests those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the charity of their choice in honor of Mr. Templeton and Daryl.

Father, son die in Scott County accident.

GATE CITY - An 83-year-old Gate City man and his 41-year-old son died in an automobile accident that occurred at 4:10 p.m. Friday on Route 665 in Scott County . Virginia State Police said Everett Lee Templeton suffered a massive heart attack while driving and ran off the left side of the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle, a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass, then overturned, rolled over and struck a 1900 Chevrolet Blazer. According to the report from Trooper B.K Davidson, Daryl Scott Templeton, a passenger in his father's vehicle, died at the scene. The driver of the Blazer was not injured.
