Born Sept. 28, 1937, in Big Pool, she was the daughter of the late Alvey and Goldie Reed of Big Pool.
She was a graduate of Clear Spring (Md.) High School and attended Blairs Valley Church of God.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband and friend of nearly 56 years, Gayle Fritz Sr. of Big Pool.
She was the loving mother to her children,
Gale Fritz Jr. and wife, Gina, of Big Pool,
Charles Fritz of Clear Spring,
daughter, Rebecca Madison and husband, Norman, of Big Pool, and
adopted daughter, Jenny Baker.
Also the grandmother and great-grandmother to
Jason Fritz and wife, Katie, and children, Hadyn and Jase,
Shannon Shatzer and husband, Tim, and children, Becca, Buddy and Frankie,
Kathrin Mills and husband, Mark, and daughters, Destiny, Malissa and Samantha, Elsa Fritz, Tishie Butts, Goldie and Charlie Madison.
Hazel is survived by sisters,
Edna Hart,
Edie Martin and husband, Benny,
Luly Sharer and husband, Kenny;
nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a
daughter, Goldie Fritz;
a sister, Elsie Weaver;
two nephews, Alan Hart and Mike Martin; and
her adopted son, Scott Butts.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
