Funeral services for Robert Lee (Rabbit) Burks were held Monday, February 21, 2005, at Moss-Service Chapel with burial in Good Hope Cemetery. Robert passed away February 18th, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. He passed away at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents loyal and Flora Russell Burks, his father-in-law Oscar J. Cordes, a brother William Burks, a sister Mary Snider-Taylor. Survivors inclide his wife Laura Ann Burks, a daughter Tabitha Gail Burks, two brothers, John Burks and Carl Burks. Four sisters Frances Guetenschwaiger, Barbara Sword Rubycloer and Maybell Greer, his mother-in-law Faye Parrish and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends. Robert was a truck driver. He was my beloved cousin. We were a couple of years apart in age and me and him and his sister grew up very close. Robert was a very good-hearted man, he would give you the shirt off his back if you ask him. He was always there if you needed a friend. The furneral home was packed the night of his visitation. He always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on. When he was fighting the cancer we would go visit him you would ask him how he was doing he always said with a smile "I am fine." When they told him he didn't have long if the cancer kept growing, he told them either way I am a winner. As I am writing this I can see his smiling face and almost hear him say don't worry about me I am fine here in heaven. Goodbye dear cousin, we are going to miss you.

I said," God, I hurt." and God said, "I know."
I said," God, I cry a lot."
and God said, "that's why I gave you tears."

I said, "God, I am so depressed."
and God said, "that's why I gave you sunshine."
I said, "God, life is so hard."
and God said, "that's why I gave you loved ones."

I said, "God, my loved one died." and God said,
"so did mine."

I said," God, its such a loss."
and God said, "I saw mine nailed to a cross."

I said, "God, but your loved ones lives."
and God said, so does yours."

I said, God, its still hurts." and God said, I know.'

Blessed are they who die in the Lord

we the family of rabbit would like to thank everyone for the flowers and kind words, they mean more than you know
