Idella 'Della' Blades died 31 December 1903 at her home in Sterling, Kansas. She was born 19 October 1880 near Sterling, Kansas. She was a resident of Sterling all her life and graduated from Sterling High School 18 May 1900 and attended Cooper College in Sterling. She taught in the Sterling public schools. Survivors included her parents Frank Shelby and Idella Daniels Blades; four brothers Frank Sandys, William Cornelius, Benjamin Arthur and Andrew Jackson; two sisters Zella and Rose Mary.

Miss Della Blades, who was an ex-student of Cooper, died at the home of pneumonia and was buried on New Years Day. She taught in the city schools until the Friday before Christmas. Her sickness was not of long duration but it ended fatally.
We regret the death of Della Blades, a former student of Cooper, and a teacher in the Sterling public schools. She was a good student and a good teacher.
