Frohling, Everett H.

Aberdeen - Everett H. Frohling, 89, of Aberdeen and formerly of Hecla, S.D., died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Manor Care Health Services, Aberdeen. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 624 N. Jay St., with Rev. Jais Tinglund and Rev. John Farden officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Everett Frohling was born Aug. 23, 1914, to Jacob and Gesine (Stolle) Frohling at Hecla, S.D. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church at rural Hecla. He grew up and attended rural school in Liberty Township. Everett farmed with his brother, and during the winters of 1936 and 1937, he helped Fred Bruns erect wind electric plants in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. He also drove the gas truck for Standard Oil Company from March 1 until Oct. 1 in 1937.

Everett married Regina Roundy on Oct. 21, 1938, at Hecla, S.D. In addition to farming, he also did custom straw and hay baling within a 15-mile radius of Hecla. In 1951, Everett and Regina bought their own farm. In 1974 they bought a house in Hecla but continued to help on the farm. They moved into an apartment in Aberdeen in 1997 and they continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of his death.

Everett was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and a past member of Peace Lutheran Church at rural Hecla where he served as a trustee for 27 years and as a church elder for nine years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling. They spent five winters in California and 12 winters in Yuma, Ariz. In 1978 they traveled to Israel and spent two weeks in the Holy Land.

Survivors include his wife, Regina of Aberdeen; six children, Barb (Marvin) Cowley, Doug (Renee) Frohling and Ron (Nancy) Frohling, all of Hecla, S.D., Kay (Roger) Sundling of Las Vegas, Nev., Dave (Deb) Frohling of Lenexa, Kan. and Marlys (Keenan) Bauer of Aberdeen; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Babb of Pelican Rapids, Minn., and Valera Dusel of Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Walter (Mae) Frohling and Ernest (Elaine) Frohling, both of Hecla; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother. Casketbearers will be Keith Cowley, Todd Brady, Ryan Frohling, Kevin Reed, Doug Shafer and Phillip Frohling.
