Elda Handtke, Milton (1911 - 2012)

Elda Handtke was born on Oct. 22, 1911, in Garwin, IA, daughter of Edward C. and Graca (Babcock) Severance. The family moved to Milton, WI, where Elda became a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church, and graduated from Milton Union High School. Her days at Milton College were filled by classes and activity in various organizations and sports, but were limited to one semester only. She had a love of music, having been handed down, and she played clarinet in bands and orchestras in the area. She also played golf, bowled, and fishing topped off the hobbies. In March 9, 1935, she was married to Carl A. Handtke in Rockford, IL. They lived in Edgerton, WI. After they both retired, their years were spent at their favorite lake in northern Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mildred; and brothers, Illo and Leonard. Surviving are nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, EDGERTON. Visitation time will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fassett Cemetery.
