Myrtle U'Della Houser, age 92 of Clay Center, Kansas and former Centerville, Iowa resident, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center, Salina, Kansas. She was born the daughter of George Albert and Loureim Alice(Whiteman)Field on September 26, 1920 in Hoisington, Kansas. She received her education from Haven Rural High School in 1938.

She had various occupations before marrying Paul Leon Phillips in 1941. They made their home in Russell until Pauls death in 1953. She then moved to Wichita, Kansas and was one of the first women welders at the Boeing Aircraft Company. Myrtle was then united in marriage to Alfred Houser on July 31, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas. They would return to the Centerville, Iowa area and begin farming. Myrtle would move to Clay Center, Kansas in 1998. She was a member of the Clay Center Leisure Center, Red Hats, Classy Lassies, Friendship Club and a volunteer for Red Cross blood drives. She was prededed in death by her parents, husbands, Paul L. Phillips in 1953; and Alfred Houser on August 7, 1997; son, Kelly L. Houser in 1980; two brothers, Ralph A. Field and Leonard E. Field; and two sisters, Lourein Brown and Fern Garton.

Myrtle is survived by: sons, Kim Phillips of Littleton, North Carolina and Mark Houser and his wife, Cindy of Des Moines, Iowa, daughters, Kayla Ernsting her husband, Larry of Clay Center, Kansas, Kendra Thacker and her husband, Frank of Walterboro, South Carolina, Jan McMillen and her husband, Mike of Catiettsburg, Kentucky and Terri Laughin and her husband, Joe of Macon, Missouri, several grandchildren and great grandchildren; step-son, Wendell Robert Houser and his wife, Margaret of Moulton, Iowa and Keith Houser and his wife, Shirley of Moulton, Iowa, step-daughters: Sue Schwilling and her husband, Wayne of Strong City, Kansas and Lorraine Binkley and her husband, Mack of Moravia, Iowa.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 am at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas with Rev. Paul Tessaro officiating. A second memorial service will be held at a later date at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with burial of ashes in the Mt. Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville. Memorials can be made to the Clay Center Leisure Center, First Baptist Church or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
