26Apr 1968, The Leader-Herald, Gloversville-Johnstown, NY Lester M. Crippen, 75, a retired mail carrier, of 300 North Main Street, died unexpectedly early yesterday in his home. A Coxsackie native, Mr. Crippen resided in Gloversville about 50 years and worked at the Postoffice more than 30 years. He retired eight years ago. Mr. Crippen was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Men's Brotherhood. Surviving are a brother, Frank Crippen, Johnstown; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Crippen was predeceased by his wife, Catherine Lawyer Shaver and daughter, Doris Irene. The funeral of Mr. Crippen was held 28Apr1968, at the Eugene Hollenbeck, Jr. Funeral Home with Rev. Walter J. Whitney, First United Methodist Church officiating. Bearers were Loren Neal, Melvin Cummings, Donald Yeates, Clayton Longfritz, Robert Naish and Walter May.
