John C. Ganter, age 79 of Peshtigo, WI passed away January 29, 2013 at Rennes Health Care Center-West in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. He was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on February 15, 1933, the son of the late Anton and Cecelia (Stang) Ganter.

After graduating from Peshtigo High School, he joined the United States Air Force on December 17, 1952 and served in the Korean War Conflict in North Africa until September 16, 1956. He was an aviation mechanic with the rank of Sergeant Airman First Class.

On October 15, 1958, he married Marlene A. Matecki at St. Mary's Church in Peshtigo.
He retired from Badger Paper Mills after 33 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish, travel and spend time with his family and grandchildren at their cabin in Silver Cliff.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlene, who resides at Rennes Health Care-West;
three sons: Curt (Carrie) Ganter of Green Bay, WI; Mike (Wendy) Ganter of Valencia, CA and Dan (Kathy) Ganter of Peshtigo;
seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Ganter and his mother-in-law, Mary Dupuis.

Per his wishes, there will be a private family service.
