I was born in Medicine Hat in 1929 and attended Process School until 1943 when we moved to Medicine Hat. There I attended Riverside School, and later on Alexandra High School until 1948 when I decided to leave school and find a job (I couldn't support my habits on part time work).
I had always been fascinated by trees and mountains, and thought that I would try working in the woods. I tried Northern Alberta first, but the wages and camp conditions were too poor. I had my eyes set on the Pacific Coast, and started my logging career there in the summer of 1948, which lasted a total of twenty years.
My single life was interrupted in January 1956, when I married Joyce BROWNLEE. Larry was born in 1957, with Susan following in 1959.
In 1968 we moved from the North Coast region, and settled on Salt Spring Island (in the Gulf Island Group), where we are now engaged in land development work, land clearing and road construction on the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.
