Norman E. Hussey "Norm", 78, of New Berlin, died at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St.John's Hospice. Norm was born March 11, 1934 in Peoria, the son of Raymond Jacob "RJ" and Emile Libert Hussey-Ayres.
Norm was a graduate of Lanphier High School and in his younger years worked for Allis Chalmers.
He then worked in construction for Springfield Mechanical and did field tiling for farmers.
He has also worked for Gabatoni's for many years. He was a former member of the Elks Club, Eagle's Club and Hidden Valley Lake Estates. Some of Norm's favorite pastimes include hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, working, and tinkering.
Norm will forever be remembered as a wonderful, loving and hardworking man who will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, RJ Hussey and one brother, Charlie Hussey.
He is survived by his companion and best friend of 21 years, Rosalie Beck of New Berlin; children, Rick (wife, Michelle) Hussey of Springfield, Debbie Chapman of Springfield, Shane (wife, Cindy) Hussey of Basco, Rock wife, Nancy) Hussey of Cheyenne, WY, and Shannan Doyle of Carthage; eleven grandchildren; mother, Emile Ayers of Grants Pass, OR; siblings, Francis husband, Jerry) Stasukinas of Springfield, Christina (husband, Fred) Burris of Springfield, Ronnie (wife, Pat) Hussey of Portage Des Sioux, MO, and Kathy Mullins of Grants Pass, OR; sister-in-law, Gloria Hussey of Springfield; estranged wife, Dixie Hussey of Basco; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Scott Brindley officiating.
Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Mausoleum.
