Donna Marilyn Burns, of Torrance, CA passed away on February 19, 2013 with her loved ones at her side. The funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints in Redondo Beach on Saturday February 23 at 10am. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Friday February 22 at White and Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach. Burial will follow the funeral at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. Donna was born in Oakland, CA on April 26, 1930 to Arema Goodwin Dalton and Mark Ardath Dalton, M.D. Donna was married to Richard Lester Burns on D-Day June 6, 1952. They were married 49 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and a member of the Little Company of Mary Respiratory Pep Club. Donna is survived by her children Richard William, Shawn Ardath of Torrance, Kathleen Arema Torres-Burns (Eddie) of LaMirada and Donna Jean Carroll (Ray) of Torrance along with her granddaughters Morgan Ray, Mallory Nichole and her great grandson Nathan Carroll; her brother Mark Dalton, Carol Edgmon (Jerry), Thelma Whatcott (Keith), along with a host of nephews and nieces she adored. Donna is preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Burns; sons Danny and Barton Brian; sister Gloria (Whitey) Treeon; and parents. The family of Donna would like to thank Torrance Memorial Hospital their Doctors and numerous staff for their kindness and care.
