James Wesley "Jim" Wade, 83, of Parkersburg passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born April 26, 1925, in Sutton, W.Va., a son of the late Harper J. and Rosalie Wesley Wade.

Jim was a charter member and former Sunday School teacher at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg. He served his country in World War II from 1942-1945 in the U.S. Navy and served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953. Jim retired from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood after 27 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 A.F. & A.M. for 50 years and served as worshipful master twice. He was past watchman of Shepherd of Bethany Shrine, past worthy patron of Parkersburg Chapter 14 O.E.S. and was past royal patron of Royal Court 5 Order of the Amaranth. He was a life member of the D.A.V. and served on the Board of Governors and was secretary of the chapter for several years. He was a life member of the V.F.W. in Parkersburg and was once on the board of directors of Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Jim especially enjoyed gathering with his friends at J.R.'s Donut Castle in Parkersburg.

Jim is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Corinne Wharton Wade; one daughter, Lori Roberts and husband, Keith, of Parkersburg; one son, Randy Wade and wife, Kim, of Cross Lanes, W.Va.; one sister, Connie Deem of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Courtney Fraser, Chris Wade and Daniel Wade, all of Cross Lanes, and Alyssa and Josh Roberts of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Josephine Gannon, Irene Smith and Martha Kidd; and one brother, Jack Wade.

Funeral services for Mr. Wade will be 1 p.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg with the Rev. David A. Carpenter and Dr. Kurt Busick officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 15 and Masonic graveside rites conducted by Mt. Olivet Lodge 3 A.F.&A.M. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
