Paul, Richard William of West Yarmouth passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the age of 86

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth C. Paul, daughter Elizabeth A. (Paul) Uzdavinis and husband Dennis of White Mountains, New Hampshire. Grandfather of Thomas J. Jennings of Yarmouth, Sara Serra and husband Cleverson of Yarmouth and Amanda Jennings of Barnstable, Great grandfather of Adam J. Jennings and Zachary R. Jennings of Yarmouth and Serena Serra and Gabriella Serra of Yarmouth. Richard was the brother of the late Edward Paul.

Born and raised in Worcester, MA son of late William and Anntoinette Paulavedus. At the age of 17 years he entered the Marine Corp where he bravely fought and defended our country on the island of Pellieu, South Pacific. He attended local schools in Worcester, graduated from Worcester Poly Tech Inst with an engineering degree. Using his degree he worked for General Electric as an electrical engineer. During his career with GE Richard was a successful council man and ran for Mayor of the City of Pittsfield, MA. He was named Man of the Year by Time Magazine in 1970. Following his career at GE he moved to Cape Cod with his family where he purchased rental properties and was voted Landlord of the Year in 2002 for Cape Cod and the Islands. Richard enjoyed walking with his dogs Bobby and Billy and serving as a landlord for many years.

Richard was a loving and generous man, who thought nothing of giving a stranger the shirt off his back if he thought it would help. He will be missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013 from 4-7PM at Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Pius X Chruch, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:15 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA Please make donations in Richards name to the charity of your choice.
