George Washington Anderson was the second son of Isaac and Amy Jane Hoel Anderson. He served as a private in Co. A, 76th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, from July 24, 1862, to July 22, 1865. He married Mary Maria Beckett, daughter of Alfred and Eliza Beckett, March 18, 1869, in Iroquois Co., Illinois. Their children were, Frank Beckett, Amy Jane and Willard Warren Anderson.
He married Alice Josephine Burgett February 20, 1879, in Iroquois Co., Illinois. Their children were George Lincoln and Onie Bell Anderson.
