HAROLD (DICK) McCORCKLE

Harold (Dick) McCorkle, 61, Arcadia, FL, died Sunday at DeSoto Memorial Hospital there. A native of Curtisville, he was born Sept. 8, 1920, the son of Glen and Sarah Holward McCorkle. He was married April 5, 1942 to Joyce Stam, who survives. He moved from Elwood to Florida 10 years ago. A retired demolition excavator, he was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Curtisville Christian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, are five daughters, Cynthia Riga of Yorktown, Virgest Lyons of Marion, Sandra Weaver of Sommerset, Janelle Raper of Atlanta and Denise Chinowsky of Lake Leelanau, MI; two sons, Larry McCorkle of Arcadia, FL, and Neal McCorkle of Bradenton, FL; one sister, Betty Jo O'Brien of St. Charles, IL; three brothers, Hershel McCorkle of Elwood, Donald McCorkle of Atlanta and Daniel McCorkle of El Paso, TX; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dunnichay Funeral Home with Rev. John Dorney officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday.
