He served in the US Army.

Harold L. Burkart, 58, of St. Nazianz, died Monday afternoon December 2, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home and 11:15 am at St. Gregory Catholic church, St. Nazianz. Rev. Cletus LaMere will officiate and entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
Mr. Burkart was born October 30, 1927 at Chilton, son of the late Louis and Caroline Kautzer Burkart. He attended St. Gregory School. He was employed at Burkart’s Store and Shoe Repair for 29 years and for the past 13 years by the Valders Public School District. He married Daisy Schram on April 29, 1950 at Two Rivers. Mr. Burkart was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Japan.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Signe of New Holstein, James and Robert at home, John and Sandy at Valders and Jerry at home; a daughter, Joan at home; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bruno and Larry and Jean of St. Nazianz; a sister-in-law, Caroline Burkart of Manitowoc; a brother-in-law, Robert Wagner of St. Nazianz; two grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, St. Nazianz, 4 pm to 9 pm Wednesday where a prayer service will be at 8 pm.
