Thomas H. Phillips died at his home in Wayne Township, Greene County, PA February 28, 1893, aged 65 years, 9 months and 23 days, of a complication of diseases. He had been in poor health for some years. He was a member of Valley Chapel M.E. Church for 35 years and lived a faithful member until death, leaving us the blessed assurance that he was going home to live with Jesus. He leaves a widow, Nancy Myers Phillips, 8 sons and 3 daughters to mourn the loss of a husband and father. May his death be a warning to us all to be ever ready for the Master's call. He was buried the following day in the family burying ground on Rudolph Run. --Waynesburg Republican 3/9/1893

Thomas Phillips was the son of Job Phillips. His brother Frederick Phillips died in the defense of the flag during the Civil War; he had two sisters Louisa R. (George) Moore and Martha Jane (Morris) Lemley

Thomas was married 3 times, Margaret Whitlatch, Elizabeth Myers, and Nancy Myers. Elizabeth and Nancy were sisters. His children with Margaret were Elizabeth, George W., and Francis Marion; his children with Elizabeth were Jacob E. and James Harvey; his children with Nancy were Sarah Louise, Armeda Belle, Spencer Ross, Thomas C., Jobe and Abraham Elza .
