She first appeared on the Broadway stage in 1924 in the production of 'East Street', before going on to star in 'The Fourflusher' (1925), 'Easy Come, Easy Go' (1926), 'The Lady Lies' and 'Baby Cyclone' (both 1927). In 1928, she shared the stage Walter Huston, in 'Elmer the Great' (1928). The couple married in 1931 and appeared onstage together twice more in 'Dodsworth' (1934) and 'Othello' (1937). The couple remained married until his death in 1950. On film she starred in 'The Carnival Man' (1929), 'Sweepings' (1933) and 'Unconquered' (1947) and made several television appearances during the 1940's and 50s.
