Dr. George Wyatt Hollingsworth was an early member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity with co-founder George Miles Arnold. Hollingsworth graduated from the Medical College of Alabama in 1871. After additional training at the Bellevue Hospital in New York City, he practiced medicine on Royal Street in Mobile until 1874. He contracted tuberculosis and may have spent his final years at Ocean Springs, Mississippi convalescing from this ailment. His death certificate states that he succumbed to tuberculosis at Ocean Springs. He never married. The year of birth is shown as 1850 on his grave marker, which is consistent with the founders of Kappa Sigma.
