Fort Scott Daily Tribune Monitor, October 26, 1917, page 7: Lieutenant Clem Parks, colored, who recently secured a commission at the training camp for colored officers at Des Moines, Iowa, will be a guest of honor at the reception for World War 1 soldiers. The reception is this evening at the old Socialist Hall on Market Street. Lt. Clem Parks will leave for Camp Funston to receive his assignment about the same time as two honorees, draftees Roy Dodson and Charles Otey.
