James Canter, 89, of Wellston, passed from this life Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Jenkins Memorial Health Facility. The son of William and Ivadell Canter, he was born Feb. 17, 1924, at Murray City, Ohio. James served in the Army during W.W. II, and labored most of his life as a coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Loudermilk, who he married Feb. 13, 1946. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William; grandchildren, Paul William and Judy Marlene; his brothers, Franklin and Eddy; and his sister, Helen Malone.
One hour of calling will be observed Monday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Huntley & Cremeens Funeral Home. Immediately following, there will be a graveside service, with Pastor Perry Bradford officiating, at the Salem Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by Wellston Post 371 of the American Legion. Salem Cemetery will serve as his final resting place.
