Born in Salem, he graduated from North Salem High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1949. He moved to Compton, Calif., Reno, Nev., and then to Auburn, where he worked as a machinist for Boeing for 19 years.
He then worked for the city of Salem until moving to Walla Walla in 1991.
He enjoyed bingo, poker and trivia.
Survivors include his wife, Julie, whom he married in 1956; sons, Scott and Ken, both of Walla Walla; daughters, Jaleta Anderson of Flagstaff, Ariz., Rebecca Fry and Christina Anderson-LeBlanc, both of Walla Walla; brother, Daniel of Salem; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Walla Walla VFW hall. Interment will be Monday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Arrangements are by Colonial-DeWitt Funeral Home. Contributions: the Walla Walla VFW, care of the mortuary.
