Luke DeWitt, age 70, of 1313 W. Walnut Drive, Sturgeon Bay, died early on Monday, June 30, 2008, at his residence, after a battle with cancer.
Luke was born on Nov. 28, 1937, in Algoma, a son of the late Seraphin M. and Anna Mae (Kinard) DeWitt. He attended St. Luke Catholic School, and Washington High School, Two Rivers, where he graduated with the class of 1957. Luke worked for Peterson Builders Incorporated (P.B.I.) of Sturgeon Bay for many years, and later worked as an electrician for Marinette Marine of Marinette, Mich., retiring in 2003. Luke was an avid trapshooter, and enjoyed competing in many leagues and tournaments over the years; he also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dad and brothers; and spending time at their hunting shack in Argon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc. The Rev. William G. O'Brien will officiate at the service, with entombment to follow in the mausoleum.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, after 9 a.m. on Thursday until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. There will be no visitation this evening. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the DeWitt family with funeral arrangements.
Luke's family would like to extend a special thank you to United Limited Partner Hospice Care, especially Ida and Lauren; Carol and Chris Demmin; and Carol Therrein for their extraordinary care and compassion shown to Luke and our family throughout his illness.
