Felcie Hayes Underwood, age 98, formerly of Tory Lane, Asheboro died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Thomasville.

Mrs. Underwood was born August 9, 1914 in Randolph County to Lewis and Lucinda Kirkman Hayes. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and retired from Asheboro City School System. She was also a homemaker who loved working in her flowers and garden. Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband, L. D. "Doug" Underwood, brothers, Roy, Kermit, Clarence, Floyd, Stacy, Denver and Cleo Hayes and sister, Onie Hayes.

She is survived by her sons, Max Underwood and his wife Debra of Trinity, Keith Underwood and his wife Libby of Asheboro; daughters, Dianne Kimes and her husband Douglas of Asheboro, Janelle LaPrade of Asheboro; grandchildren, Chris Underwood, Wendy English and her husband Joe, Dennis Kimes and his wife Lorie, Chad Kimes and his wife Amy, Brian Underwood and his wife Wendy, Sharon Caviness and her husband Jason, Rebecca Stryker and her husband Bill; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Dorsie Walker of Kernersville.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 10, 2013 1 hour prior to service at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 4994, 1814 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203.

The family would like to thank the staff of North Pointe of Asheboro and Pine Ridge Health and Rehab for the care given to Mrs. Underwood during her time there. Also a special thank you to her friend and roommate, Lynn Rhymer for all the companionship and care she showed to Mrs. Underwood.
