ALEX (AL) FLEMAL

Alex (Al) Flemal, age 87, of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning Dec. 22, 1998, at Two Rivers Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. William G. O'Brien. Entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

He was born March 23, 1911, in the town of Brussels, Door County, son of the late Alexander and Josephine Dedecker Flemal He attended Door County Schools, graduating from Sturgeon Bay High school with the class of 1929. On July 2, 1938, he married Adeline Spevachek at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tisch Mills. Alex was employed for a short time at Eggers Industries and also Paragon Electric Co. before operating a grocery store on 3lst Street, in Two Rivers. The couple then owned and operated Flemal Footwear in Two Rivers for 27 years until retirement. Al was also a police officer for the city of Two Rivers for a number of years. Mr. Flemal served as past president of the Two Rivers Police and Fire Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, Meals On Wheels Program and the Two Rivers Silver K Kiwanis Club. He was an active member at the Two Rivers Senior Center where he enjoyed singing with the Senior Center Chorus. He was the former head of Music Under the stars Program, active with the Boy Scout Troops and a long-time member of the Manitowoc County Commission on Aging and the Two Rivers Committee on Aging. Al also volunteered, many hours at the Point beach State Forest Park.

Friends may call at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church after 9 a.m. on Thursday until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. There will be no Wednesday evening visitation. Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
