William Schley Howard, Jr. was the son of William Schley and Lucia DuVinage Howard, Sr.

William Schley Howard Rites Today; Retired DeKalb Official

Services for William Schley Howard, Jr., 62, as assistant DeKalb County Solicitor for 13 years before retiring last year, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Decatur Presbyterian Church, burial in Decatur Cemetery.

A resident of 904 S. Hairston Road, Stone Mountain, Mr. Howard died Friday.

He had attended Emory University and the University of Georgia before graduating from Atlanta Law School in 1937.

While with the DeKalb Police Department from 1946 to 1949, he organized the detective division.

Mr. Howard was a World War II Veteran.

Survivors include his widow; daughters, Mrs. Leslie W. Cook of Decatur and Mrs. Thomas A. Sizemore of Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Mrs. William Thomas Edwards of Atlanta, and brother, Pierre Howard, Sr. of Decatur.
