Schooled at North Carolina A&T University, then earning a Master's degree from University of Alabama Birmingham, she was an educator for 42 years in the Birmingham Public Schools. Her Jehovah's Witnesses faith lasted through her adult life. She was survived by one daughter, two sons, and one step-daughter.
