Wilbert H. Funk Sr., age 88, of 610 Randolph St., Mishicot, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Rev. John Neuser officiating. Entombment will follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum, Hwy. 310 in Manitowoc.
Wilbert was born Dec. 31, 1913 in Two Rivers to the late Henry and Anna Huss Funk and has been lifelong area resident. He attended the former Oakland School.
He married the former Lorraine Jost on Nov. 24, 1937 and she preceded him in death on April 8, 1985. He later married the former Joan Filliez on Sept. 7, 1990 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers.
Mr. Funk owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Mishicot for many years and retired in 1990. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot and the Mishicot Senior Center. Wilbert enjoyed hunting, being in the outdoors and tending to his yard work. He also enjoyed his card clubs and visiting with his many friends.
He is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law: Lorraine Krcma of rural Denmark and her special friend Eugene Jergenson, Dorothy and Ronald Morreau of Mishicot, Lucille "Susie" and Ken Jossart of De Pere, Diane and Bud Blattler of Two Creeks; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Wilbert Jr. "Willie" and Cindy Funk of rural Denmark, David and Peggy Funk of Mishicot and Mark Funk of Mishicot and his special friend Sharon Posvic; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his stepchildren: Gene and Joyce Repenn of Two Rivers, Roy Repenn of Two Rivers, Renee Rempenn of Madison, Lynn Mraz of Sturgeon Bay; two sisters: Clara Rothmund of Manitowoc and Hycintha Grenier of Manitowoc; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Jolene Stedl; a grandson: Louie Jossart; a great-granddaughter, a great- grandson; and by his son-in-law, Joseph Krcma; one brother, and two sisters.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Lambert Funeral Home in Mishicot There will be a 7 p.m. parish wake service Sunday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 10 sum. on Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, until the time of services at 11 a.m.
