Lillian Agnes (Ward) Kennedy. of Quincy, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2012, she was 76. The beloved wife of the late George L. Kennedy. Loving Daughter of the late Maurice Ward and Anna (Hegarty) Ward. Cherished mother of Carol Mittelstadt of Crystal River, FL., Steven M. Kennedy of New Bedford and Deborah M. Hardy of N. Smithfield, RI. Sister of Ann Marie Hall and Carol Greene both of Quincy, James M. Ward of Bellingham and Maurice J. Ward of Scituate. Beloved Nana of 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Lillian grew up in South Boston and was proud of her Irish roots. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School and furthered her education at U Mass Dartmouth. She worked as an office supervisor for the Fairhaven Corporation for many years. She retired in Homosassa, FL where she resided over 20 years only to return to Boston the last 5 years. Lillian was a member of the Castle Island Association, American Irish Club, Retired Teamsters Union, American Legion Ladies Auxillary and VFW Ladies Auxillary as well as a member of the Moose Lodge in Florida. She enjoyed Irish music and dancing. She loved to travel and stay active. The essence of her life was her family; they were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. Her family feels blessed to have had her in their lives. Lillian will be deeply missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday morning from 10 - 11 a.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Followed by a Celebration of Life Service Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian may be made to Beacon Hospice, 529 Main St. Suite 126, Boston, MA 02129.
