EARL GLANDER

Earl E. Glander, age 86, village of Cleveland resident, went home to his Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Harmony West, Manitowoc.

Earl was born April 12, 1919 in the town of Casco, the son of the late Emil and Alvina Breitlow Glander. He graduated from Rio Creek grade school. In 1945, Earl went into the Army and served his country in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

On June 17, 1939, he was united in marriage to Ethel Bitzan of the town of Casco, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rankin. The couple resided at Route One, Algoma, where they engaged in dairy farming.

During the years of dairy farming and after retirement from dairy farming, Earl worked at the Manitowoc Shipyard. The marriage was blessed with eight children. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, the Lutheran Laymans Club, the Senior Citizens Group and Men's Club. He was also a member of the Manitowoc American Legion.

Survivors include his wife: Ethel of Cleveland; five sons: Dr. Ken Glander and his wife, Bonnie Larson of Durham, N.C.; Klinton Glander of Algoma; the Rev. James (Dee) Glander of North Augusta, S.C.; Richard Glander of Pembine; and the Rev. Randall (Anne) Glander of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters: Noreen (David) Lemmen of Georgetown, S.C.; and Nila (Tom) Born of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and one sister: Gladys Glander of Kewaunee.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one son: Garry; four brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1712 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc. The Rev. Richard Miller, pastor, will officiate and entombment will follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, in the town of Kossuth. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

The family has established a memorial fund for ôThe Lutheran Hourö in Earl GlanderÆs name. The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel of Cleveland, is assisting the family with these arrangements.
