PAUL R. GROH

Paul R. Groh, age 72, of St. Nazianz, died Tuesday morning, July 6, 2004 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay, after a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 19, 1931 in the town of Liberty, son of the late Edward and Lorena Christel Groh. Paul attended St. Gregory's Catholic School in St. Nazianz.

On June 2, 1951, he married Marie Steffen at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Spring Valley.

Paul was employed at Kohler Co. for 39 years in the foundry maintenance department, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, he also worked for the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department and was a constable for the town of Meeme. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. Paul enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing and playing sheepshead and bingo at the Union Hall in Sheboygan and playing cribbage with his friends, Earl Neumann and Warren Hoffmann.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Marie; five children: Eugene Groh, Valders; John (Mary) Groh, St. Nazianz; Norbert (Linda) Groh, Greenbush; Margaret Nenning, Valders; Michael Groh and friend, Brenda of St. Nazianz; nine grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers: Robert (Betty) Groh, Bowler, Wis.; Jerome Groh, St. Nazianz; and Edward Jr. (Betty) Groh, New Holstein.

He was preceded in death by one son: Patrick; one infant grandson; and one sister: Julie Ann Russell.

Funeral Mass will be held at 8 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2004 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, with the Rev. Gregory Coulthard and Deacon James Steffen officiating. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc, town of Kossuth on Saturday. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial has been established in his name. Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the St. Nazianz First Responders and the Valders Ambulance Squad, Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers and Green Bay and the chaplain at Aurora BayCare Center, Green Bay, for the wonderful care and their concern for Paul.
