ALVIN W. HAGENOW

Alvin W. Hagenow, age 89, formerly of 621 S. 32nd St., Manitowoc, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Alvin was born on May 4, 1919, in the township of Gibson, son of the late Charles and Annie (Shupita) Hagenow. He attended the Riverview School in the town of Gibson. Alvin married his dancing sweetheart, the former Clara Bohacek, on Aug. 6, 1941, at the Melnik Presbyterian Church. He was employed as a machinist at Manitowoc Engineering Company for 29 years until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Alvin and Clara enjoyed dancing with the Happy Hoppers Dance Club, playing cards, riding bicycles and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers: Ludwig and Edwin Hagenow; one sister: Viola Polifka; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hagenow and Helen Skarivoda; and three brothers-in-law: Ervin Polifka; Harold Dickert; Victor Shusta.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, 502 N. 8th St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer will officiate, with entombment at the Knollwood Mausoleum, 1500 Highway 310, Manitowoc.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Hagenow family.

A special thank you to the staff of River's Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and compassionate care shown to Alvin this past year.
