Norman "Ned" Deskin, Sr. 95, of Lowell, Ark., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, after a short illness.

Ned was born in Colfax, Iowa, on June 28, 1917, the eldest of five children, to Harry E. and Ethel (Haddon) Deskin.

Ned married Julina "Judy" Heflin at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in 1941. They lived in various places as required by Ned's job until he joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, where he trained as a navigator on a B-29 during WWII.

After the war, Ned and Mr. Ellsworth Brown teamed up as partners in the CPA firm Brown and Deskin in Fayetteville, Ark., in 1953 until Ned retired in 1982.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers; a daughter, Cindy and his wife, Julina "Judy" Deskin.

He is survived by two daughters, Geri Deskin and Sarah Deskin, both of Rogers; one son, Ed Deskin and wife Maria of Batesville, Ark.; a sister, Mariam Atcheson of Chariton, Iowa; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a graveside service following at the Bluff Cemetery. Pastor Edward Upton will officiate the service under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.
